Our Favorite IWS Things in 2022
Every year around this time I join the ranks of those looking for the words, you know, the ones to express gratitude, care, and appreciation for the past year and of course the excitement for the year to come. Because I approach most things unconventionally, this year we are going to focus on “Our Favorite IWS Things from 2022” and not just on my own words!
From Michelle Thomas:
“...My favorite thing was having the opportunity to meet & connect with many of my teammates & a handful of our clients in person this year!”
From Dalhia Dalogdog:
“...My favorite thing is our daily, working finance session and our team meetings. It’s a great thing for me to see each other as one team; we’ve created an environment where we laugh, share ideas, and get some great work done as a team.”
From Tra’Chelle Simon:
“...My interview process, as I joined the team in July of this year - because it was unconventional, comfortable and fun! My all time favorite was having the opportunity to work with the team in person.”
From Jayvee Villanueva:
“...My favorite thing about IWS is that the whole team is treated like a family. We joke and laugh, share interesting things about ourselves and more importantly, we work as one, ensuring no one is left behind.”
From Daemon Dunbar:
“...Coming together as a team to get closer to conquer the challenges, getting lean but still getting stuff done. We focus on honest conversations with team members and clients to get things done.”
I picked up on a common theme when I posed the question in a team meeting several weeks back. Thank mother earth for that because I am going to “borrow it”! I am definitely not a writer and it is December, and we are accountants after all you know…
This small but mighty team showed up for each other in 2022, and it felt so good. We clearly were only as good as the other; lifting us up, cheering us on, or challenging us to get it right. We need each other, and as innovators, we will continue to find new ways to celebrate and support each other and our clients from no matter where we “sit.”
This was the year we were called “partners” instead of consultants. Realizing just how good that word felt and the energy force behind it overwhelmed me but also reminded me of the responsibility we have. Our clients showed up for us this year, too, standing up with thoughtful and candid feedback – driving important decisions in how we set about improving the client's experience as they moved through the work we do together.
My favorite “IWS thing” from 2022 was how we all showed up for each other. From a virtual meeting with wigs to celebrate a client during her cancer journey, to surprise cookies during team meetings, to building a family instead of just a business. I am the luckiest person on earth to know these same amazing people show up for me, too.
Love,
Lynda
